Prices, Order information and Terms of Business

My prices include

• A picture mount to fit the standard sized frames available in your high street. (Mount apertures differ slightly between suppliers and the sizes shown above are indicative only)
• Next Day UK Special Delivery by Royal Mail. Overseas delivery is available at extra cost.

All portraits are drawn personally by me, freehand, starting from a blank sheet of paper. My prices above are for head, or head-and-shoulders studies with a wash background. In animal portraits this will include a basic headcollar or dog/cat collar, if you wish.

Bridles, harnesses, fancy collars, detailed backgrounds and other objects in the picture will be charged extra, which will be discussed with you as we agree the composition.

Please Note:

• The choice between pastel and coloured pencil (which is more detailed and takes longer) is usually determined by the subject and the quality of the photographs. I will advise you which medium I believe will produce the best picture for you.
• I cannot accept a commission if the reference photos show insufficient detail of the subject. In particular I can only draw colour portraits of people if the photos are exceptionally good.
• I am happy to discuss a quote for three or more subjects in one picture

How to Order
Ideally send me your reference photos by email right at the start, with an outline of what you would like and any deadline you have. I'll contact you within 48 hours to discuss your requirements, confirm the price, and schedule the work. Delivery is generally in about 5-6 weeks but if you have an earlier deadline I'll try to rearrange my work to accommodate it.

To confirm your order send me a non-refundable deposit of £50 for a single subject or £80 double subject.
I prefer bank transfer but will accept Paypal, cheque or credit card.

When finished I will email a scan of your portrait for approval. Once you are completely satisfied, send me the balance of your payment and I will despatch your picture. If time is short you may, of course, pay the balance before completion so that I can despatch your portrait as soon as you have approved it.

Payment for multiple orders is due as each picture is completed.

Copyright
Photographs are copyright, and ownership usually belongs to the person who took the photo, or the person who paid for it to be taken. For each photo you send me you are granting me an indefinite licence to use it, copy it, and display it in any way - so it is important that you own the copyright or have permission to grant this licence.

Further, for each photo you send me you are agreeing to indemnify me against any costs arising from claims made against me by a person claiming to own the copyright.

SHORT OF TIME? SEND A VOUCHER
If you have a very close deadline I can send out a Gift Voucher for a specific amount of money, or for the entire cost of a portrait and delivery. Your recipient can then choose exactly what they want, at their leisure.

Cash-value vouchers can be bought for a specific sum to be used against the total price of a commission.
For a picture-value voucher simply pay the amount shown. The recipient may add extras such as additional subjects, larger sizes, upgraded or non-UK delivery, bridles, collars, and backgrounds which are payable at the time.
Orders must be placed within twelve months and vouchers are not refundable

Other terms and conditions
If you do not wish to pay the balance for the finished portrait, you will forfeit the initial deposit and I will retain ownership of the drawing and its copyright will vest in me, along with the right to display or sell the original and/or images of it to third parties.

I may place an image of your purchased portrait in my various web galleries, and use it in my publicity, unless at the time of delivery you specifically request me not to do so. I will not resell any form of copy of the portrait you have purchased.
