Christmas 2008

I have now closed my order book for delivery before Christmas.
If you would like to make a Christmas gift may I suggest a 'picture-value' gift voucher
for redemption next year, which will secure the work at this year's prices.

I would like to thank all my 2008 clients for keeping me so busy throughout the year
and for all their recommendations.

A little about me

This is me, Sue. Welcome to my website.

I live in Whitstable with my husband David.

A lifetime ago I was an office manager, working for all sizes of company. With two of the largest I had travelled the world and for a period in the 1980s I was based in Singapore, running a branch office. Subsequent posts were all in the City of London until commuting became a chore so I became office manager for a local firm of Independent Financial Advisers.

Throughout my early career I had little time to pursue my love of drawing but working locally enabled me to rediscover the pleasure of portraying pets in pastel and pencil. My spare time was devoted to producing portraits of pets, initially for friends and family, but word spread and with a steady flow of commission requests I decided to leave the rat race and become a full-time artist and join the www.

I have had no formal training but since turning professional I have taken courses to improve my skills, try new pencils, and learn new techniques.

The ultimate accolade has come from my peers. In the last couple of years I have entered works into various national art competitions and was thrilled to be awarded prizes and/or have works selected for competitive exhibitions. You can see some of these pictures in the 'Odds and Ends' gallery.

My highest achievement has come from my portrait of an old lady, entitled 'In the Eye of the Beholder'. It won Reserve Best in Show at the UK Coloured Pencil Society competitive exhibition in June 2008. I was delighted enough when my work was selected to be exhibited; to win second prize is just amazing.
